“But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely
come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his
hand over the place, and recover the leper.”
(2 Kings 5: 11)
That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional today.
When Elisha told Naaman to wash in Jordan, Naaman spoke of his preferred options. He
wanted the prophet to come out, stand, call on the name of the Lord, strike his hand
over the leprosy and heal him. Naaman’s ideas about his healing appeared more
sophisticated than Elisha’s instruction.
In the end, Naaman’s healing came through Elisha’s instruction. Naaman may have
prefered to wash in Abana and Pharpar, but they were not God’s will for him. The
sophistication of Naaman’s idea was nothing compared to the perfection that came by
his eventual obedience to God’s word.
Friend, go for God’s will. Some ideas may appear sophisticated, but they may not be
God’s will for your life. Some options may work for others, but they may not be
God’s will for you. Some locations may appear rewarding, but they may not be God’s
will for you. You may like the ‘Abana’s and Pharpar’s’ of this world, but maybe,
your miracle lies in your ‘Jordan’.
Ask God to open your eyes to know His perfect will for your life. Ask God to show
you that one step that will make the difference for you. Ask God to show you the
idea that holds the key to your increase. Ask God to show you where your
breakthroughs are located. Ask God to show you the ‘Jordan’ that is loaded with your
Naaman’s result came, not through the sophisticated Rivers in Damascus, but through
the dirty River Jordan. God’s will for your life may not appear to be the best in
the eyes of men, but in the end, it will take you into uncommon results.
Pray With Me: Lord, show me Your will for my life, in Jesus’ name!
